These are the strongest coffee blends in the world

These are the strongest coffee blends in the worldThese are the strongest coffee blends in the worldOver 50% of Americans over the age of 18 (150 million) drink at least one cup of coffee a day, though three cups is closer to the national average. Given that 65% of Americans consume their java during breakfast hours, we can assume the majority of US customers privilege fuel over taste. The average cup of coffee packs about 95 to 165 milligrams of caffeine, which doesnt seem to be cutting it for most- hence the three cups a day statistic. At about $2.70 each, as Ladders reported, your coffee budget can start to fatten up real quick. If youre like me, you simply cant make it through the week without the stuff, so here are three ways to get the most caffeine for your buck.Follow Ladders on FlipboardFollow Ladders magazines on Flipboard covering Happiness, Productivity, Job Satisfaction, Neuroscience, and moraBlack Insomnia Coffee BrewBlack Insomnia CoffeeBlack Insomnia Coffees brew, self proclaims itself to be the most robust coffee in the world. Their website boasts, Roasted in an age-old Italian tradition, slowly and carefully in a small batch drum roaster, allows for a smooth yet strong aroma, robust flavor, velvety body and heady crema without any unpleasant bitterness or acidity. For $20, you can purchase a 1lb bag of the arabica blend, and make yourself a batch that carries 736 milligrams of caffeine per cup, which is nearly 600 milligrams of caffeine more than the average cup of black coffee. Apparently, this caffeine boost doesnt come at the cost of taste, given that the reviews have been largely positive.Death Wish CoffeeDeath Wish Coffee Co.With 59 milligrams per fluid ounce, (the average cup contains about 12 to 16 milligrams per fluid ounce), Death Wish claims to not only be the strongest coffee in the world but the strongest coffee in the galaxy. In fact, just last year, the folks over at Death Wish sent over an instant freeze blend of their coffee to th e grenzberschreitend Space Station to fuel the crew of NASA Expedition 56. The DW team is pretty confident in their claim, stating, We offer a 100%, no-BS guarantee If this isnt the strongest coffee youve ever tried, well gladly give you a refund.A challenge worth considering-$19.99, smooth cherry blend, 100% natural, co-signed by astronauts.Take breaks for wellness and to maximize caffeine benefitsA word of caution while its true that Black Insomnia and Death WIshs super coffees both wield formidable doses of caffeine, its important to remain aware of the adverse effects of over being caffeinated nervousness and restlessness, stomach irritation, nausea and vomiting, increased heart rate and respiration- just to name a few.Black Insomnia Coffee Brew, for instance, is considerably more than The U.S. Food and Drug Administrations daily recommended dose of 400 milligrams, so maybe limit yourself to a couple of cups a week at most. Not just for wellness, but to also ensure that youre ge tting the most out of your caffeine. New research recently published in PLoS ONE found that taking caffeine breaks potentially reduces caffeine tolerance, making us feel much more alert form lower doses of caffeine.Whatever your preferred amount of coffee a day is, over time the effects to alertness that coffee offers will begin to diminish. To achieve optimal focus results, its important to frequently re-establish caffeine as a foreign entity to our bodies. According to a study, caffeine tolerance can occur as quickly as one to four days. If youre currently finding yourself crashing quicker, and upping your coffee intake with some frequency, dont worry, the process can be reversed.Caffeine Informer reports, Those habitually addicted to caffeine should conduct a caffeine detox to eliminate caffeine from their system. This allows a return to normal non-caffeine functioning. This can take 2 weeks to 2 months depending on the daily amount of caffeine consumed. 3 Ways to Power Up Your Resume for the New Year

3 Ways to Power Up Your Resume for the New Year3 Ways to Power Up Your Resume for the New YearThe new year is at hand. With holiday parties over, now is the time to roll up your sleeves and execute your resolution to move your career to the next level. As you sit down to compose or edit your resume, remember its singular purpose is to address an employers first question Can this person do the work that is associated with this job, and do they have the right background to make a potentially strong fit? Only if you pass this test can you begin to move along the other stages of the hiring process. Use these powers to convey your unique value and distinguish yourself from all the other candidates who have had similar career paths and job descriptions as yours1. The power of intelligence. People judge your intelligence by the way you communicate, both orally and in writing. Clarity of language demonstrates your ability to organize and convey your thoughts. Utilize highs of commonly misused resume words abound aid/aide affect/effect cite/site council/counsel. The list goes on and on. Faulty grammar, spelling, or vocabulary will be a mark against you, especially when youre applying for a position that requires excellent communications skills.2. The power of multiple perspectives. Imagine how recruiters, HR screeners, and the hiring managers will perceive and evaluate what you write. unterstellung professionals have seen it all. They recognize boilerplate wording in an instant. When you use the same language as everyone else, you do nothing to distinguish yourself from the crowd. Just the opposite is true. Will resume readers look at your resume and say to themselves, Heres one more 50-something-year-old trying to avoid age discrimination by leaving out the date they graduated college or muddling their work history by using a skills based functional resume instead of a chronological one? Will the person who reads your resume see in it something so vague that they wont und erstand what youre talking about? They are invariably pressed for time, and have neither the inclination nor ability to try to figure it out. If they cant quickly gain a very positive judgment about your specific skills, experiences, and accomplishments, they will move on to the next resume. Will a hiring manager look at your resume and say, This person did just what I need to have done, using the same tools and methods that we employ here? If so, you will create a wow moment and a desire on the hiring managers part to enter into a dialogue with you.3. The power of how. It is one thing to say you CAN do something, which isnt very impressive. It is another to say you did something, which is better. But when you use each bullet point to say HOW you achieved something, you make your story complete and thereby elevate it to a higher level.ExamplePoor Capable of creating and teaching safety programs on a variety of topics.Better Created 12 safety and environmental programs, dealing with A , B, and C.Wow Created monthly safety topic scheduled and taught training sessions for 82 unionized field technicians in 4 regional locations. Developed and administered end-of-training tests to demonstrate the level of understanding of materials covered by employees. Utilized test results in construction of follow-up classes and resources. When you develop bullet points like this last one, you give the reader a complete story that provides insights about the scope and context of your work, how you went about it, and your standards of performance excellence. This is the time to power-up your resume. When you take it to the next level you will increase your chances of standing out from the crowd, and being seen as an A class candidate.Happy hunting Arnie Fertig is the head coach of JOBHUNTERCOACH.COM, where he utilizes his extensive background in HR Staffing and as owner of a recruiting company to help mid-career job-hunters land their next job. 5 Reasons for Engineers to Give Back

5 Reasons for Engineers to Give Back 5 Reasons for Engineers to Give Back 5 Reasons for Engineers to Give BackThe work of engineers is intertwined with every aspect of society. They apply their skills and expertise to the bridges we drive over, the irrigation systems that sustain our agriculture, the machines that save our lives, and so much mora.In other words, engineers are indispensible to our very way of life.Theres a lot of good that can be done with those essential skills and notlage just through a day job. There are a number of volunteer and charitable opportunities specifically designed for engineers to lend their unique and valuable skill tischset to the community. Dozens of organizations, such as Engineers Without Borders, exist for this very purpose. And using your engineering skills to give back isnt just incredibly valuable to the world at large its also beneficial for you. Some of our volunteers have said that theyve reached a point in their career where they feel like they have mora to offer. Jaclyn Wilmot, Engineers Without Borders USAHere are some of the top reasons why engineers should give back to their community1. Hone your skillsIf youre an engineer just starting out in the field, or if youre a college student currently pursuing your degree, volunteering can be a great way to get your foot in the door professionally. Members of Engineers Without Borders build a water supply system in Thailand. Image Tenpenken / Wikimedia CommonsFor instance, Engineers Without Borders flagship program, the International Community Program, offers volunteers the opportunity to adopt a community project and work on engineering solutions around the world. Last year alone, volunteers worked on about 700 projects across 46 countries, says JaclynWilmot, volunteer engagement director for Engineers Without Borders USA.Many of the programs volunteers are college students who are experiencing for the first time the engineering project process from beginn ing to end from assessment to design to sourcing sustainable materials to implementation. Its an experience you simply cant get in the classroom, and its one that could set you apart from the competition.Oftentimes in school, youre getting some really great theoretical knowledge, Wilmot says Youre reading books. Youre taking tests. Youre really learning the ins and outs of the field. But to have that field experience really makes them a strong candidate for their future careers.2. Gain new experiencesMore seasoned engineers can gain unique engineering experiences they may not have access to in their day jobs. The Engineering Service Corps program, for instance, is designed for highly skilled professional volunteers who lend their services to disaster recovery, agriculture, and sanitation projects across the globe. Some of our volunteers have said that theyve reached a point in their career where they feel like they have more to offer, and theyre able to do something that theyre not able to do in their professional job, Wilmot says. Some of our more seasoned engineers are retired, and this a way for them to continue sharpening their skill and utilizing their talents in a way thats real exciting for them, and really feels impactful. For You Engineers Break Down Borders3. Sharpen non-engineering skillsAnother way to get involved in nonprofit work is to join a local chapter. Becoming an officer of a chapter is like running a small business. Doing so helps you develop a versatile set of skills, such as project management, budgeting, working with people, and solving problem. You need to recruit for the right talent, hold regular business meetings, decide on projects that youll pursue, put project teams together, fundraise, market, communicate, Wilmot says So there are a lot of basic business elements that come into play, which really translate into the professional world, she says.4. Become a mentorIf youre a veteran professional, volunteering for nonprofit or charita ble organizations can give you the chance to mentor students and recent graduates. Engineering Without Borders requires professional mentors to be paired with up-and-comers for engineering projects. Its a mutually beneficial experience. The veteran gets to take the next generation of engineer under their wing, teach them what they know, and also learn from them, Wilmot says. I think that knowledge-sharing is exciting, and to be able to shape the next generation of engineers is really impactful for our more seasoned volunteers, Wilmot says5. Improve your resumeIts always good to approach volunteering with philanthropic motivation, but it certainly doesnt hurt to consider your own career prospects. Giving back to your community is a great resume enhancer.Current and prospective employers alike look highly on those kinds of experiences. Our corporate partners tell us that they love the fact that they can work with Engineers Without Borders to recruit some of these recent graduates, Wilmo t says. They say that these students are anywhere from four to five years ahead of other recent grads in the same field because of the experience theyve received through EWB-USA.Tim Sprinkle is an independent writer.Read MoreCreative Approach to Engineering Improves GradesHow to Raise a Coder in Four Easy StepsLevitating with a Tornado of Sound Waves For Further Discussion
